Mrs. Figueroa was awarded the annual Fresno County Office of Education (FCOE) Innovation Grant for her submission of “Art Hop Highlighting Community” – West Fresno Elementary. A reception was held in her honor as well as the other recipients. Mrs. Figueroa along with Learning Director Sabrina Green, were awarded a plaque and grant funding for $1,000.
Art Hop Highlighting Community will expose students to the arts by creating a theme inspired art project related to the positive influences with the community. Students will choose an inspirational community member, create a masterpiece using canvas, watercolor, or clay. Students will research and highlight their accomplishments through the use a various art media. Each piece will be influenced by famous paintings, artists or themes chosen by the teacher within each classroom and showcased during the school’s open house.
