West Fresno Elementary and Middle schools are excited to partner with Tree Fresno to plant 600 trees throughout the two campuses.  The project is part of a Cal Fire Grant, whose goal is to improve the air quality in the West Fresno Area. Led by Tree Fresno and funded by the California Climate Investments Program, the project will also be an opportunity for West Fresno teachers and students to learn about the science behind how trees can promote healthy air.  Students, staff, and community members are invited to participate in the planting event. Please contact your school office for more details.

Update, May 25, 2018:

Over 100 students and staff participated in Tree Fresno’s tree planting event held on May 25, 2018. The project was made possible by a grant from Cal Fire, and provided more than 600 trees to be planted throughout the West Fresno Elementary and Middle School campuses.  Participating students learned about how one large tree can provide one day’s supply of oxygen for up to four people!  Washington Unified would like to thank Tree Fresno, Cal Fire, and the California Climate Investments Program for their support of the West Fresno community.
