On March 15, 2018, the West Fresno Middle School Journalism class visited Fresno’s KFSN Channel 30 news station in downtown Fresno.  Escorted by the News Director, Michael Carr, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students were able to experience all parts of the news’ stations working departments from news production to advertising and marketing to social media.  Students were able to read off teleprompters, interact with employees, and take a tour of the station.

Students especially enjoyed seeing the control room, the news studio, and the news room.  Students were able to ask questions about the news industry, news stories, and the types of technology involved in broadcast journalism.  Class Instructor, Chrystle Munoz explained that students were surprised to learn about the large number of tasks that each employee had to accomplish during one news show.   During the 11:00 a.m. news show, students were able to speak to and take photos with the news anchors, Graciela Moreno, Tony Cabrera, and Alena Lee. WFMS is grateful to the KFSN Channel 30 team for this educational experience!
