Every June, students around the country face what experts call the “Summer Slide.”  The Summer Slide describes what can happen to students, especially those at-risk or from low-income families, during the summer months when they are not in school.  Studies have found that these students are more likely than their peers to loose important academic gains made during the school year.  Fortunately, the answer is simple: read every day!  Footsteps2Brilliance® is a free tool that parents can use to fight the Summer Slide.

Washington Unified is excited to have partnered with Footsteps2Brilliance®  to offer every family, living within Washington Unified’s boundaries, this free online literacy application.  The exciting app works on any device and can be used in both English and Spanish.  Students and families will enjoy the interactive books and games that Footsteps2Brilliance® has to offer.
