Students enrolled in WUSD’s Alternative Education program returned to a completely updated campus this year. Improvements included renovated classrooms, updated outdoor lighting, and new signage designed to increase student health and safety. “There’s a building sense of pride on campus. Students and staff appreciate all the details and attention from new flags, outside lighting and of course the new carpet and walls including the accordion wall between the two classrooms,” stated Principal Grant Thor.
City-owned Chukchansi Park donated sod for the newly renovated courtyard space. The sod was previously used by the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park, but was donated during recent renovations by the ballpark.
Improvements also benefit the expanding alternative education program in WUSD. Thor reports that Easton High school recently hired 3 additional teachers to serve students, expanding the educational options offered. Students will be able to learn in both the traditional classroom setting and take online courses through Edgenuity.
