One of Washington Unified’s goals to is to support families in raising the future generation.  With that in mind, every school has increased the number of opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s educational program.  As we seek to educate and empower our students, we want all parents and guardians to know that they are an important part of our team! Upcoming opportunities for parent involvement include:

School Site Council: Join your school’s Principal in creating the Single Plan for Student Achievement for your school.  This important plan describes how the school will spend its Title I funds on programs and supports for your child.

ELAC: The English Learner Advisory Committee plays an important role; working with school staff to ensure that English Learners have the tools they need to meet their academic goals.

Coffee with the Principal: During these informal elementary school meetings, school staff will present important topics affecting your child in today’s world.  From the right amount of screen time to staying safe, these presentations will give parents tools to raise their child in today’s changing world.

Academy Parent Nights: Homework, College Applications, Scholarships, Careers: these are just a few of the important topics discussed at Academy Parent Nights at WUHS.  Be sure to attend these meetings to get important information for your child as he/she prepares for college and career.

LCAP Meetings:  Scheduled to begin in January of 2019, WUSD will host day and evening LCAP meetings at every school site.  LCAP meetings give parents the chance to provide feedback on a variety of topics ranging from school safety to academic preparedness.
