American Union Elementary School is proud to welcome Timothy Butts, Jr. as Principal for the 2019-20 school year. Mr. Butts brings many years of experience in education to American Union, having served as both a teacher and administrator in the public school system.
Principal Butts is an enthusiastic educator who has dedicated his career to helping students and their families. He has earned a degree in Liberal Studies, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, and a Clear Administrative Services Credential.
He has served in a variety of roles at the elementary and middle school levels including teaching Kindergarten through sixth grade English Language Arts, serving as an Intervention Teacher as well as a fifth-grade teacher, and serving as a Program Manager at the District level. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Principal at Abraham Lincoln Middle School in Selma, CA.
“As an Administrator, I aspire to a school culture and educational program conducive to student learning and development,” stated Principal Butts. “I seek to foster positive behavior, student and faculty teamwork, and cooperation in the school environment…It is my belief that all students can learn given a positive learning atmosphere that welcomes exploration and enhances student confidence. School should be enjoyable and exciting. If students look forward to attending school, they will want to LEARN.”
