On April 8th, the West Fresno Middle School and Washington Union High School chess teams participated in the 43rd Annual CalChess Spring Scholastic Super State Championship Chess Tournament. Coached by Anthony Sidney, The West Fresno Middle School team won 4th place out of 15 schools in the (K-8 unrated section) and Washington Union High School  won 2nd place out of 8 schools in the (K-12 unrated section).
