This month, Washington Unified seniors, Tory Horton and Hhalayah Goodman were honored with the “Senior of Distinction Award” at the FCSS African American Student Leadership Conference.

WUHS took 20 students from the Black Student Union (BSU) club to the conference where students heard from local leaders about having “20/20 Vision for Excellence.”  BSU advisor Andrea McDonald stated, “Here at WUHS we believe in promoting unity and academic success within our African American population on campus.”   The club has hosted numerous campus events this year, including a pop-up educational display during Unity Week, a Black History Month education campaign, and a staff appreciation luncheon.

Horton and Goodman were honored for their positive contributions to campus, including academic achievement, involvement in campus clubs and sports, and exemplary leadership and character.  Both students are also members of the WUHS BSU club and actively work to promote African American achievement on campus.

WUSD is proud of these outstanding seniors!
