Washington Unified Adult School recently added an Adult Transition Program.  Through the program, Miss Melanie Tatco, Alternative Education teacher, provides assistance and guidance to young adults who are transitioning from High School to the workforce. The program helps participants learn the skills necessary to find a job.

With support from Miss Tatco, students recently participated in mock job interviews in a virtual setting. Miss Tatco recruited Alternative Education Principal Mr. Grant Thor, Washington Union Teacher Mr. Dennis Randle, and District Student Services Director Mr. Derek Cruz to round out the interview panel. Students answered questions and engaged in discussions with the panel for a fictitious auto mechanics job as participants expressed interested in this field. After the interview, the panel gave feedback to the adult students that will help them in future interviews. Both student participants have recently been accepted to Auto Mechanic Training Programs that provide certification in the field.

The Adult Transition Program joins the Adult School’s existing and continuing High School Diploma Completion Program for adults wishing to earn their high school diploma.
