Dear Washington Unified Families,

As we continue to work towards our goal of bringing all students back to campus for in-person instruction, we wanted to provide you with this important update so that you can begin to plan for the next phase of learning in Washington Unified.

Bringing Students Back to Campus Beginning in January

Over the past few weeks, we have been bringing small groups of students back to campus for instruction, utilizing our Health and Safety COVID-19 Guidelines.  We will continue to add to that number in the coming weeks in an effort to support our students to the fullest extent possible.  On October 28th, the Board of Trustees approved our plan to begin Phase II, Blended Learning on January 11th.  Blended Learning means that students will spend part of the week receiving instruction in smaller groups on campus, and will continue to learn at home for the remainder of the week.  A Blended Learning approach allows us to open up campuses for in-person learning, while at the same time meeting the strict health and safety guidelines from state and local officials.

School Sites will begin by bringing the youngest students back on January 11th and will continue to add grade levels each week.   It is important to note that any family who chooses to remain in 100% distance learning, will have the option to do so.

School Site Plans for Reopening

On November 20th, each school site mailed letters to their families containing more information about re-opening plans at their school site. Click below to read these letters. Also sent home were specific schedules and student cohort assignments that have not been included here. Please be looking for this mailer in the coming week and contact your school site with any questions.

At this time, Fresno County remains in the Purple Tier.  Please note that as we continue to monitor guidance from state and local officials we may need to adjust our plans for the health and safety of our staff and students.  We will work diligently to keep you updated on our plans through our website, phone calls, and letters like this one.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school site.  We are here to help!
