Reading Corps Staff
WUSD is proud to announce our partnership with Reading Corps as a crucial component within our district’s Early Literacy Plan. Reading Corps tutors are providing necessary interventions within Preschool classrooms to help students build strong foundational literacy skills necessary for students to enter into Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten.
WUSD Preschool was awarded a three year grant to support our Dual Language Learners in their ability to enter into Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten with the English language and literacy skills necessary for the level of rigor required in TK/Kinder. Preschool teachers, administrators and coaches are currently receiving SEAL training in an effort to provide strategies to support our Dual Language Learners in alignment within our curriculums. Our goal is to engage our families in the SEAL partnership model to show the value a student’s home language brings to their language acquisition within their Preschool experiences.
